How to spot the Parrotfish when scuba diving
Scaridae
Among the most ubiquitous components of fish assemblages in tropical and subtropical reefs worldwide.
Can be observed during the day while feeding. Night dives offer opportunities to see them sleeping, often in mucous cocoons.
Primarily warm tropical and subtropical waters. Preferred temperatures above 22°C (72°F).
Found on coral reefs, inhabiting reef flats, slopes, and lagoon areas. Look among live coral, rubble, and the rock-sand interface. Specific locations with healthy reef systems are good indicators.
